Living in the sub artic it is easy to see the effects of global warming. The Mendenhall Glacier, in Juneau, has retreated at an alarming rate since I first laid eyes on it. The artic sea ice quickly disappearing. Permafrost is melting causing buildings to sink in the mud. Alaska’s land based glaciers are contributing 23 cubic miles of fresh water annually to the Pacific. Check out this site and look closely at the reasonable measures we can all take to slow this crisis. Let’s save something for our grandchildren. We all need to act to preserve our planet’s air and oceans. Each of us contributes to the problem. We all need to contribute to the solution.

Stop Global Warming

One click each day can feed someone who is really hungry. It is free. It improves our world. It just takes a moment. We are all on this blue orb together twirling through space. Why not?

Now that we have given a thought to global warming and world hunger lets go fishing

You can donate your used, out dated glasses to these folks and they will find someone who needs them and can’t afford to buy them. Why not?

For those who like great wildlife photography I am posting a link to my neighbors' web site. Jay, Eileen, Jayleen and Jason Beedle live about a half mile to the south of us. They are the only year round neighbors we have on the west side of the Island. You may have seen some of their photos throughout my site. They all are interested in photography and are excellent photographers. You will find rare shots of breaching whales, eagles, seals and you might even find an occasional shot of the rare and quite unusual Shelter Island Beedle. Here is their link.

While your at it look around their site and see the happenings at Harv and Marv’s Outback Alaska. You will encounter a real Alaskan family and friend living their dream, trying to make life count in these confusing times.
